The International Symposium on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functions under Global Change is an event organised by the University of Sassari to bring together experts to discuss the nexus of biodiversity, ecosystem functions, and global change, with a focus on the use of digital platforms, digital twins, and monitoring networks.

The University of Sassari (Department of Agricultural Sciences) is organising the International Symposium on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functions under Global Change, a three-day event taking place from November 20-22, 2024 in Alghero, Sardinia, Italy.

This symposium will bring together international experts to highlight and discuss key aspects of the nexus among Biodiversity and Ecosystem Functions (BEF), under the context of Global Change, in relation to the activities of the Italian National Biodiversity Future Center (NBFC). There will be a special focus on essential (biodiversity) variables and on the contribution that digital platforms, digital twins, and international monitoring networks will provide to address the challenging NBFC commitment to monitor, conserve, restore, and valorise biodiversity and ecosystem functions in a rapidly changing world.

The BioDT project partner, Thomas Geenen, is one of the keynote speakers, and he will present the DestinE project and the collaboration with the BioDT. To illustrate the BioDT project there will also be partners from TNO.
